Anhur is a free Drupal sub-theme of W3CSS Theme, giving you 23 regions and a distinct visual starting point without building a theme from scratch. It supports Drupal 9, 10, 11 and 12.
What Anhur is
Anhur is one of three sibling sub-themes — alongside Amun and Amunet — that share the W3CSS Theme base and differ in their visual defaults. Pick the one whose starting look is closest to where you want to end up; everything else is theme settings.
A sub-theme is the right structure here. You inherit the base theme's templates, regions and responsive behaviour, and you carry only the overrides that make your site yours. When the base theme is updated, you get the fixes without re-applying your changes.

That core range is unusually wide — Drupal 9 through 12 — which makes Anhur a reasonable choice for a site you are not ready to upgrade yet but do not want to re-theme twice.
Installation
composer require drupal/anhurEnable it and set it as the default:
drush theme:enable anhur
drush config:set system.theme default anhur -y
drush crOr in the admin interface: go to Appearance, find Anhur, and choose Install and set as default. Installing Anhur installs its base theme as well.
Configuration
Anhur's settings live under Appearance → Anhur → Settings, and they follow the base theme's structure: colours, fonts, container widths, menu behaviour and per-region settings. If you have configured W3CSS Theme before, nothing here will surprise you.
Which of the three should I use?
All three sub-themes share the same base, the same 23 regions and the same settings. The difference is the visual defaults they ship with. There is no functional reason to prefer one — install whichever looks closest to your target design, since every setting is adjustable afterwards.
If you want more regions and a newer foundation, look at Solo instead. Solo is the third generation of this theme family, with 24 regions, 51 colour schemes and 51 font options, and it requires Drupal 10.1 or later.
Common questions
Do I need to install W3CSS Theme separately?
Composer handles it. Anhur declares W3CSS Theme as its base theme, so installing Anhur brings it along.
Is Anhur a sub-theme of Solo?
No. Anhur's base theme is drupal8_w3css_theme — W3CSS Theme, the earlier generation. Solo is a separate, newer theme in the same family.
Does it work on Drupal 12?
Yes — ^9 || ^10 || ^11 || ^12.
Can I sub-theme Anhur itself?
You can, but if you are going that far you will usually be better off sub-theming Solo, which has more regions and a more current codebase.
