This shows you how to resize the type across an entire Solo site from one dropdown, without editing a single stylesheet.
The global control
Open Global Site Settings → Typography & Content and find Website's Font Size. Five values are offered, each labelled in both units:
- 12px / 0.75rem
- 14px / 0.875rem
- Default 16px / 1rem
- 18px / 1.125rem
- 20px / 1.25rem
Why one dropdown moves everything
The chosen value is applied as a class on the document's own <html> element — fs-18, for example. Because Solo's stylesheets are written in rem, and rem is relative to the root font size, every heading, paragraph, button and menu link scales in proportion from that one change. Any CSS of your own written in rem scales with it too, which is a good argument for writing it that way; this comparison of rem, px, em and vw goes into the differences. Note that the region spacing setting rides on the same element with a gap- class, so bumping the font size does not silently change your spacing.
The sizes that are set separately
- Site name — chosen independently for small and large screens, from Large 18px to Jumbo 64px, under the Header settings.
- Page title — the same range, also split small and large, under the Page Title settings.
- Reading mode — a per-content-type option that caps the content region at 45rem / 720px, the width that keeps a line of text at a comfortable 60 to 75 characters.
Those three are deliberately outside the global scale because display type and body type rarely want the same treatment.
Changing this setting is reversible and affects no content, so it is safe to try live: pick 18px, save, and read a real article before deciding. Solo supports Drupal ^10.1 || ^11 || ^12 with PHP ^8.1 — see the Solo theme page.
