By the end of this video you can turn Solo's four bottom regions into a two, three or four column strip above the footer, and set the exact width of each column.

Four regions, one wrapper

Solo declares Bottom First Container, Bottom Second Container, Bottom Third Container and Bottom Fourth Container (bottom_first to bottom_fourth). They share one outer wrapper, and how many of them hold an enabled block decides which layout selector applies.

Picking the column ratio

Under Bottom Containers Settings → Layout Settings there are three selectors, one per column count:

  • Four columns: 25/25/25/25, 16.6/33.3/33.3/16.6, 33.3/16.6/16.6/33.3 or 16.6/33.3/16.6/33.3.
  • Three columns: 33.3/33.3/33.3, 25/50/25 or 20/60/20.
  • Two columns: 50/50, 67/33, 75/25, 80/20 and the three mirrored versions.

A different strip per content type

Tick Enable per-content-type layouts for Bottom region and each content type gets its own two, three and four column override, collapsed into its own details element. An article can run 20/60/20 while a landing page runs four equal columns. The same idea applied to other grouped regions is covered in per-content-type layouts for grouped regions.

Styling, landmarks and the missing settings

The Styling & Design tab adds rounded corners, borders, an animated border and a hover animation, plus free-text CSS classes; every individual region also gets a block alignment selector for large screens and its own colour panel. On Accessibility & Behavior, Enable ARIA Landmark for Bottom Container adds role="region" and an aria-label — Solo's own help text tells you to switch it on only when the strip consistently holds important, navigable content, which is the right advice.

If none of these settings are on your theme settings page, no block is placed in any bottom region yet; Solo hides settings for empty regions on purpose. The theme runs on Drupal 10.1 and up. Start at the Solo theme page.
