One checkbox puts your main menu above the header instead of below it. This video shows where it is and what it changes in the markup.
The setting
Go to Global Site Settings → Interface Behavior and tick Tick this box to flip the main menu order. It will be displayed before the header. Save, and the navigation bar now renders first, with the logo, site name and slogan beneath it.
What changes underneath
Two things, and both are useful to know:
- The page template swaps the include order of the primary menu and the header, so this is a real reordering of the document, not a CSS trick. Screen readers and keyboard users encounter the menu first.
- The class
menu-flippedis added to the page wrapper element, giving you a clean hook for any custom CSS that should only apply in this arrangement.
Two settings worth pairing with it
With the menu on top, the header below it can look bare. Turning on the primary menu's branding option puts a clickable logo inside the menu bar itself, and the show-sitename class adds the site name next to it. The header centring checkboxes are the other half of the job, since a header that sat well under a menu often wants different alignment when it sits above one.
The rest of the Interface Behavior tab
- Centre the login, register and password reset forms and hide the sidebars on those pages.
- Animate opacity as the visitor scrolls down.
- Show multiple taxonomy term values on one line instead of stacked.
- Colour-code the View, Edit, Delete and Revisions tabs for editors.
- Set the menu animation speed to fast, normal or slow.
Each is a single checkbox or select and none needs a template override — which is the general shape of this theme, as this introduction to Solo lays out. Solo supports Drupal ^10.1 || ^11 || ^12; see the theme page.
