This video builds a footer in Solo: three side-by-side regions, a separate menu strip beneath them, and a copyright line that updates its own year.
What the footer is made of
Solo gives the footer four regions with distinct jobs. Footer First Container, Footer Second Container and Footer Third Container sit inside one wrapper and share a column layout. Footer Menu Container is separate, below them, and is where a footer menu and the social icon row are rendered.
Two or three columns — not four
Under Footer Containers Settings → Layout Settings there is a two-column selector (50/50, 67/33, 75/25, 80/20 and their mirrors) and a three-column selector (33.3/33.3/33.3, 25/50/25, 20/60/20). There is deliberately no four-column option here, because the footer only has three regions to lay out. If you came from the bottom strip expecting a fourth, that is the difference between the two.
Different footers per content type
Tick Enable per-content-type layouts for Footer region and each content type gets its own two-column and three-column override. The Styling & Design tab adds rounded corners, borders, a border animation and a hover animation; Accessibility & Behavior offers an ARIA landmark for the footer wrapper; and every individual region has its own alignment selector and colour panel.
The copyright and credit line
A separate Copyright & Credit section holds the small print. Type %year% anywhere in the copyright text and Solo substitutes the current year at render time, so the footer never goes stale. If you need links or legal markup in there — an ICP licence number, for example — tick the option to use a single formatted text field instead, and the text runs through the text format you choose. Three more fields build the credit link: URL, label and link text.
Moving an existing footer across
If you are coming from the W3CSS theme or one of its sub-themes, the Solo Copy Blocks module copies block placements into Solo's regions with the mapping, order and enabled status preserved, rather than placing everything by hand. Solo itself needs Drupal 10.1 or newer — see the Solo theme page.
