Solo installs three of its own date formats and lets you choose which one appears under a node title. This video shows the three patterns and how to replace them with your own.
The three formats Solo installs
Installing the theme creates three date format configuration entities. They are ordinary core date formats, owned by the theme, and they show up alongside Drupal's own at Configuration → Regional and language → Date and time formats.
- Solo Date Short — pattern
F j, Y, giving September 14, 2025. - Solo Date Medium — pattern
D F d, o, giving Sun September 14, 2025. - Solo Date Long — pattern
g:i A T, D F d, o, which adds the time and timezone in front.
Choosing one
The selector is Choose the node date format, on the Typography & Content tab of Global Site Settings. It renders each option with a live example of today's date, so you pick by what you see rather than by decoding a PHP pattern. Solo Date Long is the default. There is also a - None - option, which hands the date back to whatever core or a contributed module was doing before — useful when another module already formats node submission lines and you do not want two opinions fighting.
Making your own
- Go to Date and time formats and add a format with the pattern you want.
- Return to Solo's theme settings and select it — the list is built from every date format on the site, not just Solo's three.
Because these are configuration entities they export with the rest of your config and deploy like anything else; Drupal configuration management best practice applies to them unchanged.
Requirements
No module needed. Solo declares core_version_requirement: ^10.1 || ^11 || ^12, and the three formats are installed with the theme rather than being hard-coded, so removing or editing them is safe and reversible. The theme is on the Solo theme page.
