Solo has social icons built in for 17 networks — no module, no image uploads. This video shows where to paste your links, how to size and colour them, and where they appear.
The 17 networks
Facebook, X (still keyed as Twitter), Bluesky, Pinterest, LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTube, Mastodon, Reddit, WhatsApp, Telegram, Snapchat, Threads, TikTok, Drupal, RSS and Email. Each is one text field under Social Media Links Settings → Social Platform Links. Leave a field empty and that icon is simply not printed — there is no hiding checkbox per network to hunt for.
Size, colour and the master switch
The General Settings tab has three controls:
- Show Social Icons — the master switch for the whole row.
- Icon size — small (the default), medium or large.
- Change Social Media Default Colors — leave it empty and every network keeps its own brand colour. Enter a hex value such as
#1877f2, or a custom property reference such asvar(--solo-fb), and all of them take that colour. A bare property name like--solo-fbwill not work: the browser ignores it and the icons go grey. Solo validates the field on the server as well as in the browser.
Where they render, and two special cases
The icons appear in the footer menu strip, above whatever menu you have placed in the Footer Menu Container region. They are inline SVG shipped with the theme, so they scale cleanly and cost no extra HTTP request. Two behave differently from the rest: the Email field is turned into a mailto: link rather than opening a new tab, and the RSS field is a path — it ships pointing at rss.xml rather than an external profile.
Before you save
Solo's shipped defaults are the author's own accounts. Replace every field you intend to display and clear the ones you do not, or you will publish someone else's social links. The theme runs on Drupal 10.1 and newer (^10.1 || ^11 || ^12). Get it from the Solo theme page, or compare it against the field in the best Drupal themes round-up.
Prefer a sub-theme configured properly the first time? That is Drupal theming — or get in touch and describe the site.
