Solo carries 24 CSS text animation effects, and this video shows the two places you switch them on: the site name and the page title.

Two settings, not one

The animations are exposed twice, in different parts of the theme settings page, and people hunt for a single control that does not exist.

  • The site name effect lives under the Header region settings, on the branding and typography tab: Select the desired CSS text animation effects for the Site Name.
  • The page title effect lives under the Page Title region settings, on the Display & Effects tab.

Both lists are sorted by name and hold the same 24 effects — Aurora Wave, Cosmic Drift, Dreamy Bloom, Echo Pulse, Electric Surge, Gliding Letters, Gravity Defy, Holographic Spin, Moonlight Dance, Mystic Fade, Phoenix Rise, Quantum Leap, Rhythmic Slide, Sapphire Zoom, Serene Float, Shimmering Wave, Solar Flare, Starry Glide, Swirling Entrance, Timeless Flip, Velvet Slide, Whisper Fade, Whispering Shadows and Zen Rotation — plus a first option that turns the effect off.

The classes behind them

Each choice is a class name. Site name effects are animate-site- plus the effect, applied to the <header> element; page title effects are animate-title- plus the effect, applied to the page wrapper. Both prefixes are real class names in Solo's stylesheet, so you can put one on any element of your own through the CSS Injector or a block's class field.

Use them sparingly, and check one thing

Movement on the largest text on the page is the movement a visitor cannot look away from. One effect on the site name, or one on the page title, is usually the whole budget. I could not find a prefers-reduced-motion rule in the animation stylesheet, so if your audience includes people who have asked their operating system to reduce motion, add that media query yourself in the CSS Injector rather than assuming it is handled.

Solo needs Drupal 10.1 or later (^10.1 || ^11 || ^12). Start at the Solo theme page, or see seven reasons Solo is flexible for what else is configurable without code.
