Here you get a working slideshow whose slides use a plain image field rather than media entities — useful when a site has no media library discipline, or when editors keep getting lost in the media modal.
Why a custom paragraph type is involved
The image bundles that ship with this suite all reference a media item of type pb_media_image. That is a good default, and it is not what this build wants. The opening is in the slide itself: the slide's body field has no bundle restriction at all, so any paragraph type you create is allowed inside it. Build a small paragraph type with one core image field, allow it in the slide, and the slideshow never touches media.
The two types the module gives you
- Slideshow — the wrapper. It owns the title, the sections and every display control.
- Slideshow Section — one slide, holding an optional slide title and a required body that nests other paragraphs. It has no styling of its own; the wrapper's template renders it.
The display controls worth setting
- Animated Slide — required, six transitions: zoom, top, bottom, left, right or opacity.
- Bottom Navigation — dots, numbers or a play/pause button alone, with five combinations to pick from.
- Show Prev and Next Arrows — the two arrows halfway down each side.
- Play and Stop — the auto-advance interval, selectable from 3 up to 15 seconds.
- Active Button Background — the colour marking the current slide in the navigation.
Requirements and next step
Enable paragraph_bundle_slideshow, which also brings in paragraph_bundle_image. The suite runs on ^11.3 || ^12; it will not install on Drupal 10, where W3CSS Paragraphs remains the supported answer.
Then build it: create your image paragraph type, allow it on the slide body, and set the interval to 5 seconds before you judge the animation. Field lists live on the Paragraphs Bundles module page.
